    Q:  How do I find a book about...?

    A:  Finding a book in our database is very simple. Enter a word or phrase into the search box located at the top, left-hand side of most web pages and click "Search". If your first attempt does not return any results, try thinking of a related keyword or phrase and then search again. For example, if you're looking for a book about astronauts who have been to the moon, try entering "moon astronaut" into the search box. If the database yields no results, try entering "moon landing" or "lunar module", etc. until you find just what it is you're looking for.


    Q:  How do I find a specific title, author or artist?

    A:  Enter the title, author or artist's name into the search box located in the upper left-hand corner of most pages. If you would like to narrow your search to a particular media format, or group of formats (audio and video, for example), please use our Detailed Search Page.


    Q:  How can I tell if an item for sale is new or used?

    A:  Below every image of a book, DVD, CD, software or collectable item in our database is a word that indicates its age and condition: "New" if it comes straight from the distributor's warehouse; "Used" if it was pre-owned but still in great condition.


    Q:  What is a "Bargain Book"?

    A:  A Bargain Book is one that is considerably marked down in price, typically 40% to 80% or more. These books are most often, but not always, publisher's remainders or overstocks (i.e., the publisher makes a small mark on the book's edge with a pen or marker to identify it as a left-over). All bargain books are new, and most have never even been opened.

    Ordering Answers


    Q:  How do I place an order with WindmillBooks.net?

    A:  Placing an order is easy. First add all the items you wish to purchase to your shopping cart using the "Add to Cart" button located on each product page. When you are done adding items, click the "View Cart" link located at the top of any web page. Review the items you have selected and click the "Check Out" button. If you have already opened an account with us, simply enter your email address and password, and then follow the instructions to complete your online order.

    If you are new to WindmillBooks.net, you must create an account before you can purchase the items in your shopping cart.


    Q:  How do I cancel my order?

    A:  If you wish to cancel your order, please notify us as soon as possible via our Contact Page. Once your order has shipped, you can no longer cancel it. All orders cancelled after shipment are charged full shipping and handling regardless of whether or not the order previously qualified for free shipping. Click here for information on how to return an order after it has shipped.


    Q:  What shipping methods are available?

    A:  Three shipping options are available at this time: USPS Express Mail (Overnight), USPS Priority Mail (2-3 days) and USPS Media Mail (2-9 days). If you prefer we ship your order via UPS or FedEx, please contact us using our Contact Page. Additional fees may apply.


    Q:  Which payment methods do you accept?

    A:  We accept payment by Visa and MasterCard directly through this site; Visa, MasterCard, personal check, business check and money order through the U.S. mail; and Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and e-check through PayPal®. We also accept e-Gold® payments from customers without credit cards and those who simply prefer to use a non-credit form of online payment.


    Q:  May I pay for my order with a personal check or money order?

    A:  Yes. We accept money orders and any check drawn on a U.S. bank. However, in the case of personal checks, we can not ship your order until we receive notice from the bank that your check has cleared (potentially delaying the shipment of your order by 2-5 business days).


    Q:  Do you charge sales tax?

    A:  Only if you live in the state of New York. If you live outside of New York State, you do not have to pay sales tax on your order.


    Q:  When does an order qualify for free shipping?

    A:  You will automatically receive free shipping when the net cost of your order is $50 or more. This offer applies only to orders shipped to addresses within the continental United States. All items must ship to a single U.S. address.


    Q:  How long will it take for my order to arrive?

    A:  We will generally ship your order within 1-2 business days of receiving it. You should receive your order within 2 to 14 days (but no more than 21 days) of shipment. Your shipment will originate from Castleton-On-Hudson, NY.


    Q:  What should I do if my order is late arriving?

    A:  If your order is late arriving, please notify us via our Contact Page.


    Q:  How do I return an unwanted, damaged or defective order?

    A:  If your order is unopened, simply write the words "Refused: Return to Sender" on the package and drop it back into the mail. If you open the shipment and find the materials inside damaged or defective, please send the package back to us and we will refund the purchase price in full. Please refer to the following question for our refund policy.


    Q:  What is your refund policy?

    A:  If you are not satisfied with your order, we will refund your money (minus the shipping charge) within 30 days. Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing or by calling Windmill Books. This refund policy applies to new books and new, unopened CDs and DVDs only. It does not apply to used books, used CDs, used DVDs, subscriptions, software or collectibles.

    All sales are final on software, subscriptions and used/downloaded/collectable items purchased through this web site.

    Q:  How do I order a book or DVD that is not included on your site?

    A:  Even if the title or subject in which you are interested is not located in our database, we can still help you find it. Write to us via our Contact Page for more information.




    Account Answers


    Q:  How do I open a new online account?

    A:  If you are new to WindmillBooks.net and would like to open an account, please click here. While visitors of all ages are welcome to join, you must be at least 18 years old to place an online order. Your age will be verified when you submit your credit card information at checkout.


    Q:  How do I update my account information?

    A:  To update your account information at any time, simply login to your Control Panel and click on the link (or links) related to the information you would like to change. Our web site is very easy to use, but you are always welcome to contact us if you require assistance.


    Q:  How do I close my account?

    A:  To cancel your account, simply click on the "Account Status" link located in the Control Panel and then press the "Cancel Membership..." button. Once you confirm your cancellation, your personal information will be removed from our system immediately. If you are a Full Member, but prefer to downgrade to a Free Basic Membership rather than cancel, please see the question below.


    Q:  May I downgrade my Full Membership rather than cancel?

    A:  Yes, of course. To downgrade to a free Basic Membership, simply click on the "Account Status" link located on your Control Panel and then press the "Cancel Membership..." button. Next, click the "Downgrade Membership..." button and confirm your decision. Your account will be reduced to a free Basic Membership and we will no longer charge your credit card on a periodic basis. (*Please note: no refunds are issued for unused subscription days regardless of when you cancel.)


    Q:  What do you do with the personal information you collect about me?

    A:  Please refer to our Privacy Policy for all questions regarding online privacy.


    Q:  Is my credit card information secure?

    A:  Your credit card information is encrypted and transferred across the internet using industry standard 128-bit SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). Once it reaches our secure server, it is further scrambled using an advanced encryption protocol and then transferred to a computer that is inaccessible from the internet.     Q:  Can I open more than one account?

    A:  Yes, you may open as many accounts as you wish. However, for security reasons, each account must have its own, unique email address and password.

    Q:  What is the purpose of the Control Panel?

    A:  The Control Panel allows you to access every feature included in your WindmillBooks.net membership. Sign into your Control Panel to update your e-mail address and password, alter your default billing and shipping address, set your account preferences, upgrade your account to a Full Membership and much more.


    Q:  How do I locate my Control Panel?

    A:  If you are not yet signed into your account, click the "Login" link located at the top of the page. If you have already logged into our system, click the "Control Panel" link located at the left or top of most pages.


    Q:  How do I login to my Control Panel?

    Q:  How do I logout of my Control Panel?

    A:  Click the "Logout" link located at the left or top of most pages (or use the large "Logout" link at the bottom of the main Control Panel).


    Q:  Why does my Control Panel session time out?

    A:  Your current session will expire after approximately one hour if you are not actively using the site. This is an automatic measure taken by the Windmill Books server to protect your privacy.


    Q:  What are Favorites?

    A:  Your Favorites list allows you to keep track of all items that interest you—both free and for sale. You may add or remove items from your Favorites list at any time. You may also send items contained in your Favorites list to your shopping cart with the click of a button. This feature is free for all WindmillBooks.net users.


    Q:  How do I view My Favorites list?

    A:  Click on the "My Favorites" link located in your Control Panel.


    Q:  How do I add an item to My Favorites list?

    A:  While viewing an item that interests you, click on the heart icon located immediately above and to the right of the item's description. The item will automatically be added to your Favorites list.
